This post gives you 5 ways to boost collagen. I never gave collagen much thought until I hit my 40’s (which hit hard) and then I became obsessed with it. Finding a fountain of youth became a huge focus in my life and I began researching how to boost that ever so important protein called collagen.
What exactly is collagen and why does your body need it?
Collagen is a protein found in our bodies, it’s a main component of our muscles, bones, skin etc. Collagen is composed of amino acids glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline.
As we age our bodies naturally produce less collagen than when we were younger resulting in wrinkles, joint pain and weakened teeth and gums. YIKES! So how do we slow or even reverse this natural aging process? Welcome to 5 Ways to Boost Collagen!
There are a variety of things you can do to help increase the level of collagen in your body, but here are 5 ways to boost collagen for starters:
1. Add a collagen supplement
Start from the inside out! I researched and tried a variety of collagen supplements and the one I like the most and use is Live Conscious Collagen Peptides. This supplement helps replenish skin, hair, nails and provides joint support. It also helps contribute to a more youthful appearance. I can mix it in plain water and there isn’t a bad flavor, and I haven’t noticed an aftertaste with this powder like others- which is important!

2. Add Hyaluronic Acid to your skincare routine
Hyaluronic Acid is a compound that helps promote collagen production. When in serum form it hydrates your skin, kind of like a water bottle for your face. Hyaluronic Acid serum doesn’t have to be expensive and you can find some great serums on Amazon. I use it Bye Bye Lines Hyaluronic Acid:

3. Add Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid body creams
Body creams can literally reshape your skin when used consistently. I have found adding creams and using them faithfully have made a huge difference in my skin. reSHAPE Firm 7 Tighten and reSHAPE Crepey Skin are amazing and sold in a convenient package deal.

4. Add sunscreen to your morning routine
Sun damage can directly impact the quality of collagen visible in your skin. Using sunscreen in the morning can help protect delicate skin around your eyes and on your neck from harsh exposure to UV rays.
My favorite face sunscreen is Neutrogena Clear Face. It’s oil-free and can easily be applied before applying makeup for your secret weapon against sun damage and aging.

5. Add vitamin C
Vitamin C is essential for the collagen production. A vitamin C deficiency can lead to low levels of collagen production and other potentially serious problems. Our bodies don’t make Vitamin C naturally, so we have to make sure we’re getting it in foods we eat and adding a vitamin supplement can be helpful as well. (Make sure you check with your doctor before adding any vitamins to your healthcare routine.) Foods rich in vitamin C are citrus fruits, green and red peppers, strawberries and broccoli. A good vitamin C supplement is Nature Made. This vitamin helps support the immune system as well as provides antioxidant support.
